A single anterior veneer is the most demanding restoration in cosmetic dentistry. When you replace a full smile, every unit is new and only has to match its neighbors. But when you restore one front tooth, it has to disappear next to the patient's natural teeth - and the human eye is unforgiving about a single tooth that looks even slightly off.
This is the case ADS Dental Lab is built for. Our single anterior E.max veneer combines a strong lithium disilicate core with hand-layered ceramic, so the restoration carries the internal translucency, value, and character it needs to blend with a living natural neighbor - not just sit beside it. For dentists who dread the single central, this is the difference between "close" and invisible.
Send us your toughest single-tooth case and let us prove the match before you commit.

Why a Single Anterior Veneer Is the Hardest Case
It's worth being honest about why this case intimidates even experienced clinicians.
In a full smile makeover, the lab controls every unit, so consistency is achievable - the teeth only have to agree with each other. A single anterior veneer has no such luxury. It must match a natural tooth that already exists, with its own value, chroma, translucency gradient, surface texture, and the way it transmits light. Get the value slightly too high or the incisal translucency slightly wrong, and the patient sees it instantly in the mirror, every day.
Two factors make it harder still. First, anterior teeth are highly translucent, so the color of the underlying prepared tooth shows through a thin veneer - a darkened or non-vital stump can pull the whole result off-shade. Second, there is nowhere to hide: a single front tooth is examined at conversational distance under every kind of lighting. Matching it is as much about reading light as it is about reading shade.

How We Match a Single Tooth
This is where the work actually happens, so here is how we approach a single-unit match.
Layered translucency, not surface stain. We hand-layer the veneer with dentin, enamel, incisal, and effect ceramics so the color and translucency live inside the restoration - the same way they do in the natural neighbor. Internal characterization (mamelons, an incisal halo, subtle opalescence) is built in to mirror the adjacent tooth rather than painted on top, which is what lets a single unit blend under changing light.
Custom shade matching to the natural tooth. Rather than settling for the closest standard tab, our ceramists target the specific value, hue, and translucency of the adjacent tooth, including age-appropriate details like cervical warmth and incisal transparency.
Managing the stump (substrate) shade. Because a thin anterior veneer transmits light, the prepared tooth's color matters. We ask for the stump shade so we can adjust the internal opacity of the layering - masking a dark or non-vital prep where needed, while keeping translucency where the tooth should look alive.
A clear photo and communication protocol. To match one tooth precisely, we ask the dentist to send: patient photos, images before and after preparation, scan data captured with the temporaries in place, the stump (prepared-tooth) shade, and the patient's ideal tooth length. The more complete this information, the tighter the match. For especially critical cases, we're glad to coordinate a custom shade reference so nothing is left to guesswork.
When a Single Anterior Veneer Is Indicated
A single anterior E.max veneer is well suited to:
- A single discolored or non-vital tooth - the classic darkened central incisor after trauma or root canal treatment
- A single chipped or fractured front tooth needing aesthetic restoration
- A single peg lateral (undersized lateral incisor) requiring natural reshaping
- A single tooth needing shape, width, or minor position correction
- Replacing an aged or mismatched existing restoration on a front tooth
In each case, the goal is the same: one new unit that reads as part of the patient's natural smile.
Manufacturing Workflow

Step 1 - Case submission. Send the case as an STL scan or a conventional impression, together with the photos, stump shade, and tooth-length details described above. Conventional impressions can reach us via FedEx, UPS, DHL, or another tracked courier.
Step 2 - Design and confirmation. We prepare the design and send it for your confirmation. We only begin fabrication once you have approved it, so the case stays under your control from the start.
Step 3 - Shade and translucency verification. Before layering, we verify the target shade against the natural neighbor and confirm how the stump shade should be handled - the step that makes or breaks a single-unit match.
Step 4 - Hand layering. Our aesthetic ceramists build the veneer up in ceramic layers, developing the internal translucency, value, and characterization needed to blend with the adjacent tooth.
Step 5 - Pre-glaze approval. We send pre-glaze approval photos so you can sign off on shade and form before the final firing, leaving no surprises at try-in.
Step 6 - Quality control and delivery. Each veneer is checked for marginal fit and aesthetic match, then finished, glazed, and shipped. We complete the work within 4–5 working days of receiving the case. Payment is accepted by wire transfer or PayPal.
Why Choose ADS Dental Lab

Matching one tooth comes down to the experience of the lab behind it. Since 2004, ADS Dental Lab has grown from a family-owned laboratory in Shenzhen into a modern, fully digital dental lab group serving clinics and laboratories across Europe, North America, Australia, and the Middle East.
For aesthetic work like this, cases run through our dedicated Veneer Aesthetic Center, staffed by experienced ceramists who specialize in the single-tooth matching that most labs find hardest. We've invested for years in advanced CAD/CAM systems, 3D printing, and technician training so quality stays consistent case after case - guided by three principles we've held since the beginning: high-quality craftsmanship, advanced digital dentistry, and long-term partnerships with our clients.
Our credentials back the work:

- Send us a single anterior case and let our Veneer Aesthetic Center show you the match.

FAQ
Can you match a single veneer to my patient's natural adjacent teeth?
Yes - this is exactly what we specialize in. We hand-layer internal translucency and characterization to blend a single unit with its natural neighbor, rather than relying on surface stain.
The tooth is dark or non-vital - can you stop it showing through?
Yes. Because a thin anterior veneer transmits light, we adjust the internal opacity of the layering to mask a discolored or non-vital prep while keeping the restoration looking alive. Sending the stump shade lets us plan this accurately.
Do you need a stump (prepared-tooth) shade?
Yes, please include it. For a single anterior unit, the substrate color directly affects the final shade, so the stump shade is an important part of getting the match right.
What do you need from me for a single-unit match?
Patient photos, images before and after preparation, scan data with the temporaries in place, the stump shade, and the patient's ideal tooth length. The more complete the information, the tighter the match.
Do you offer custom shade matching?
Yes. Rather than defaulting to the nearest standard tab, we target the specific value, hue, and translucency of the adjacent tooth, and can coordinate a custom shade reference for critical cases.
What files and impressions do you accept, and how fast is turnaround?
We accept STL scans and conventional impressions, and we complete cases within 4–5 working days of receiving them. Payment is by wire transfer or PayPal.
Will I approve the shade and shape before it's finished?
Yes. We send the design for confirmation before fabrication and pre-glaze approval photos before the final firing, so you sign off along the way.
